Over the years we have come to expect a certain element of fun infused in all of Masaba Gupta’s collections. Whether it’s the cow print or a fire cracker pattern, Gupta has taken the play of prints to the next level. Of late, the designer has started playing more with silhouettes that adds to her ever increasing popularity. And when it comes to her Winter/Festive collection for Lakmé Fashion Week the designer is not shying away from her signature style adding a textural factor with sequins. So what can you expect from the collection? “[I am] escalating playfulness with prints inspired by brush strokes of magnificent art inspired pieces – the collection enunciates a horse’s prowess, gait and dynamism,” says Gupta.
FOR the first time in the history of Indian fashion, young gun Masaba Gupta (who recently got engaged) showcased her collection not on a ramp but on social media website Instagram on Day 1 of the Lakme India Fashion Week. Showcased on her Instagram handles @houseofmasaba and @masabagupta, the colourful range titled ‘Sugar Plum’ showcased a host of rainbow-hued tiny crop-tops, printed piped shirt, off-shoulder loose tents, large skirts and sleeveless shirt collar column dresses with popsicle prints, and scarves tied on the models’ heads.
